November 16, 2009: Look up at the Sky
“The Leonid meteor shower is on full display tonight after midnight EST, so be ready to see some amazing meteor action in the skies over North America!
While the Leonid meteor shower typically lasts from November 13 to 20, tonight is pegged as the peak of the annualĀ meteor shower, and skywatchers anticipate ideal viewing conditions with the clear forcast and the fact that it’s a new moon.”

I have a book called A Cherokee Feast of Days. It was written and published a long time ago, and consists of daily mediations. With Cherokee being part of my heritage, I open it from time to time, though I often forget. There is something very knowing within its pages. This is what is written for today’s date, November 16:
“A midnight sky in November is a sight to behold. Nothing compares to the clarity of the limitless night sky aglitter with so many stars as to appear more like a gossamer scarf thrown across forever. We take so much for granted. The common beauty of everyday life, the sweet sleep, and quiet breathing the night offers. It seems that whatever knocks loudest gets our attention, and all that delights and comforts us slips by without our seeing it. Now, while the night sky is so spectacular, it is a gift of the season to look up and know that we are spirit-freed and unlimited. Not even the immense universe and the glittering stars created for us can compare to the stars in our hearts and what has been prepared for us.”
Enjoy the universe tonight.
